A recent power outage that lasted for hours reminded me of how vulnerable I’ve been. I’ve had a UPS but if the power stays out and the battery dies oh well…
I fixed that adding a APC Back-UPS Pro 1500 S. To sense the power I ran the included USB to the back of my Synology DS-918+. Then enabled it on the Synology Control Panel. As configured if the USB battery runs low the NAS will enter safe mode and then shutdown the UPS. Then when the power is restored the WOL signal from the UPS will power up the NAS again and restart services 🙂
